Design of Experiments (DOE) using MINITAB

This course is designed to present DOE principles and to provide hands-on experience with designs and applications.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this course, attendees will be able to:
1. Articulate DOE principles, design types, applications and terminology
2. Select appropriate DOE methodology
3. Develop a roadmap, including factors/levels, blocking, and replications
4. Apply use of Minitab to create a full model to data, effects- active/non active, factorial plots, models, practices on Minitab
5. Execute factors and interactions for two levels and more with interactions
6. Measure the advantages of disadvantages of each experiment
7. Determine how reduce number of runs, confounding, resolutions, design generators and alias structures
8. Choose appropriate type of experiment; optimize and design for best output
Prerequisites:
Basic statistics background. Technology or Equipment Required Access to use of computer and internet. All courses are instructor-driven and provided via online or in-person. Course Requirements: Participants are required to be active in class and to successfully complete an examination at the end of the course. Project, class activities, workshop and brainstorming will be covered the class. Any homework given is required to be completed before course end.

Module 1: Introduction - DOE
- DOE principles, design types, applications and terminology
Module 2: DOE roadmap
- DOE methodology, developing roadmap, factors/levels, blocking, replications
Module 3: DOE with Minitab
- Fit a full model to data, effects- active/non active, factorial plots, models, practices on Minitab
Module 4: Factorial designs
- Factors and Interactions, advantages and disadvantages, factorial designs for 2 levels and more than 2 levels, main effects and interactions
Module 5: Fractional factorial experiments
- How to reduce number of runs, confounding, resolutions, design generators and alias structures.
Module 6: Response surface methodology
- Different types, optimization, central composite design
Instructor:
The seminar leader will be a Master Black Belt with 20 years’ experience in implementing these methodologies
